There are a set
of rules pertaining to funding scientific research presented to the Research
Center at the Teachers' College, and these are as follows:
1.
The
researcher should be acquainted with the Scientific Research Standard Rules and
Regulations in the Saudi Universities before he turns in his research project
in order to know his rights and obligations.
2.
The
research sent to the Center for financial support must be novel in terms of its
subject matter and treatment.
3.
The
researcher cannot present a research project which has been previously
submitted.
4.
The
center does not receive any research taken from a dissertation or a book by the
researcher or from someone else's wok.
5.
Research
studies conducted to know the effect of the passage of time on the phenomenon
under study are exempted from (2), (3) and (4).
6.
The
Center Administration Board has the right to consult specialists about the
research studies submitted when necessary.
7.
The
researcher does not have the right to make any changes in the research (title,
outline, content) until after the Center Administration Board has approved of
that. When the researcher wants to make changes to the research project, the
Center can ask the opinion of the specialist department or ask specialists in
the field of the study.
8.
The
researcher cannot engage anyone in the research before taking permission from
the Center, and if one of the coauthors withdraws, the main researcher/author
should inform the Center of that in order to allocate responsibility for the
research.
9.
Additional
Support:
a.
The
researcher cannot ask for additional financial support for the research until
after he has done most of the research, and he has to present a cogent excuse
for that.
b.
If
the request for additional support is a result of a change in the course of the
research without the knowledge of the Center, the researcher does not have the
right to ask for this support.
10.
The researcher cannot present the research project or part of it to any other
party for financing it without the approval of the Center.
11.
If the researcher would like to publish his research via the Center, he should
apply to the Center and fill in a publication form.
12.
Once the researcher finishes with his research, he should turn in a report to
inform the Center of that and highlight the findings he has come up with.
13.
After having finished with the research and provided the bills, the researcher
should supply the Center with a grand copy of his research to shelf it on the
library of the Center.
14.
If the research is confidential and the researcher does not want anyone else to
read it or part of it, the researcher should make this clear to the Center
along with the period of confidentiality.
15.
If the researcher leaves the college while the research is not finished yet
such as in the case of seconding him to another government party, his contract
is terminated, his secondment to the university is over, or he is retired, he
should present a report indicating what he has achieved and what is left of the
research. If the work is little (no more than 25% of the research) the Center
has the right to see to carrying on funding it provided the expenses do not
exceed the budget and that its completion does take up more than six months of
the departure date of the researcher. However, if the period necessary to
complete it is longer than six months, the Center Board will suggest what they
deem necessary to spare the effort of the researcher on the one hand, and spare
the money spent on the research on the other hand.
16.
In collective research, if the main researcher leaves his job at the college,
the specialist department should assign someone else to carry out the research.
17.
In the cases abovementioned in Article (15):
a.
If
the researcher finishes his research outside the college, he should provide the
Center with a copy of it, and if he wishes to publish it, he should get the
Center's permission.
b.
If
the researcher sees that his research is published among the other publications
of the Center, his research is treated like other research, i.e. it is subject
to refereeing and funding.
c.
If
the researcher gets permission to publish the research outside the university,
the Center has 5% of the copies or at least 100 copies.
d.
There
should be written on the inside and outside covers the following statement:"
The Research Center at The Teachers' College in King Saud University Has Funded
This Research.", and if the funding is partial, it must be written that:" The
Research Center at The Teachers' College in King Saud University Has
Contributed in Funding This Research."
e.
If
the research has not been subject to the Center's refereeing or any other
publishing party in King Saud University, the researcher will face the
consequences.
f.
While
observing what has been stated in the previous clause, the Center does not take
any financial responsibility for publication outside the university.
