KSU Contest Gives College Faculty Members  Chance to Win Laptops

 

On Monday 9/11/1428 H, the Dean of the College, Dr. Ali Al-Afnan, presented the awards of the University Contest of activating their University-based websites. The winners were 43 faculty members who satisfied the minimum requirements of the contest. On this occasion, the Dean congratulated the winners and thanked them for their efforts of developing their websites. Meanwhile, the Dean reiterated that it is important that all faculty members should activate their websites. Hence, the Dean declared, this would be of great impact upon the developing of Colleges' websites, and other Vice-Deanships, centers, academic organizations. Moreover,  the dean went to say, such a developing process of websites would meet the university prestigious status.

The College to Implement 3 Computerized Labs

The Dean of the College, Dr. Ali Al-Afnan, declared that the University Chancellor Prof. Abdullah Al-Othman directed the College to start implementing three computerized labs in accordance with the University policy of propagating technological literacy, and equipping the College with the most recent networks and PCs to keep pace with scientific and technological progress.

Teachers College Website Launched

Teachers College, King Saud University, launched their new website. Built by a professional team of the faculty member, it is a modern and professional website which clearly defines the breath and depth of the College's services in a way in which is user friendly and also in concordance with their prospectus.

An easy-to-use content management toolkit enables the college to quickly and effortlessly update its own content, meaning that the information it is displaying is always up to date and relevant. It delivers an online presence that accurately reflects the College today, both in terms of learning provided and in terms of it's personality.

Intellectual Security Forum Held At Teachers College

Sponsored by the University Chancellor, the Intellectual Security Forum was held in Teachers College last month within the framework of Prince Nayef Bin Abdul-Aziz Research Chair for Intellectual Security at King Saud University which began here on Saturday, Shawal 29  and was concluded on Tuesday, Dul-Qiada 2.

The seminar Speakers were Prof. Abdullah Al-Othman, the University Chancellor, Sheik Abdul-Aziz Bin Abdullah Al-Sheik, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, and Dr. Ali Bin Abdullah Al-Afnan, the Dean of Teachers College.

In his word, Dr. Al-Afnan touched upon the importance of intellectual security in enlightening individuals and societies towards the threats of terror and terrorists on the society. Dr. Al-Afnan said that extremism generates terror and governments alone fall short of facing terrorism, therefore it remains the duty of men of letters, writers as well as artists to address the intellectual side of the phenomenon. We are expected now intelligentsia to play a more effective and convincing role, Dr. Al-Afnan said.

Dr. Al-Afnan also touched upon the importance of conducting Studies on intellectual Security in order to achieve common objectives in this regard. On his part, Sheik Abdul-Aziz Bin Abdullah Al-Sheik, the Grand Mufti, discussed the intellectual security aspect from a religious point of view, and the importance of adopting a joint strategy among the intelligentsia and religious leaders on how to deal with terrorism which he considered as a violation of the true nature of Islam.

Embassy Sponsors Workshop on English Teaching at Teachers College (November 14, 2007)

Under the auspices of the University Chancellor, the American Embassy in Riyadh sponsored a Two-week workshop for English teachers at Teacher College in Riyadh (November 3–14, 2007). This workshop was organized in cooperation with the Department of English, Teacher College, King Saud University.

The workshop provided training on the most recent methods of EFL teaching to the faculty members of Department of English including assistant professors, lecturers, English language instructors, and college students from Department of English. The training was conducted by Prof.  Stephen Stoynoff. Minnesota State University, Prof. Farouk Babraksi, and George Sholes. This workshop aimed at enriching students' academic knowledge and providing them with the latest changes of methods in teaching English. So, students can have new experiences that help them raise their potentials in tackling curricular issues and presenting them to their future students.
